Victorian Classroom

Two staples of every school room, throughout history, have been maps and globes. I can’t provide anything round and spinable for you here, but I was recently lucky enough to stumble upon a world map which was printed in Bernadette’s favorite “Le Petit Journal”, circa 1900.

The map, by F. Menetrier, is incredible for its color and detail. It shows shipping routes and sailing times to destinations in many places around the world. It also features over sixty figures of people in native costumes and a number of decorative vignettes of famous heritage sites.

I know Bernadette is going to be thrilled to hang this in her little bedroom. I hope your dolls will enjoy it as well!

  1. And is a copy going to be available on a website so the rest of us who adore adore maps, especially antique ones, might avail ourselves of a copy somehow? (Please??)

    1. Feel free to right click and copy the map from here. You can paste it into whichever word processing program you use, size it as desired, and print out as many copies as you like.
