Floral Fabric, Ribbon, and Lace

Sometimes a project gets set aside because I can’t find my way to making a key decision.

This is such a project.

And yet, with the time for wearing short sleeved cotton dresses fast disappearing, and Maddie’s school break in the South of France quickly approaching, I need to get moving.

The problem is, I have a specific inspiration photo in mind which I love. And once again, I have less fabric to execute the design than I need. Compromises must be made, and none of my two options seems less bad than the other.

The inspiration dress is two pieces. So it requires a waistband. But giving up the fabric to do this might mean I don’t have enough for the bias trim, which is a key detail of the outfit. Thus I must choose between using a substitute fabric for the band (which will be covered) or making a one piece dress.

I don’t want to do either of these things.

So I’m stuck.

But I am pushing through.

There WILL be a new pattern, very soon.

I promise!

  1. We all reach sticking points. I can identify with not having quite enough fabric of a piece I can no longer get. Mostly, I have been able to work it out, sometimes the plan changes. I will certainly look forward to a new pattern. Donna
