Lydia may be miffed that I neglected to blog about the making of her new fall dress, but I think she’s content with our recent photos. She’s so professional and polished about her posing, we managed everything in record time.
I love so many things about this project, it’s hard to choose a favorite. But I think the antique lace (from the early 1900s) is a highlight. And of course, the Victorian wool challis felt like butter in my hands. I just love how beautifully everything drapes.

I also enjoyed creating the fancy ribbon closure. Mais oui, trailing tails of velvet are elegant for any time of day!

One more thing to note is the pair of Yantorny-inspired shoes. I began with plain white pumps, which I painted and then I glued lace and a button onto the top. If you’ve never heard of Mr. Yantorny, you might want to pop over HERE and see some of his famous creations. They’re a swoon-worthy reminder of everything we love best about Edwardian fashions.
