Bernadette in Slip

Bernadette is a Bleuette doll marked 6/0. I could spend hours discussing the history of Bleuette, but since this is Bernadette’s official entry to the blog, I’ll refer you to several outside sources instead. You can find links to those over HERE.

Bernadette came to me with a deteriorated wig, so that has been replaced. She also snuck a large collection of Le Petit Journal newspapers into the house when I wasn’t looking. As you can see below, they’re not even close to being suitable for children. So I confiscated the whole lot and gave her some issues of La Semaine de Suzette to read instead.

The slip Bernadette is wearing is one of the early ready-made pieces of clothing from GL. She has a few other things, which I’ll post in more detail later. Meanwhile, we’ll start choosing some things to sew for her. Since her mold was manufactured from 1905-1915, she’ll be comfortable in anything up to 1918-1919.

I’ll be keeping a close eye on this one.

I think she’s going to be quite a handful. . .

  1. Love, love, love! My repro bluette has a pretty substantial wardrobe but it’s been years. Guess it’s time for a new outfit or two!

  2. Well, intelligent little ones are a handful, but that is part of the fun after all. I bet you two will have lots of fun together. I am looking forward to seeing what all you do together.

  3. Oooo, she does seem to be a handful, not sure what though!
But then, I am sure she doesn’t think so. Will be watching to
see what the two of you get into…

  4. She is as Cute as can be, and I think She knows it. A handful for sure. Looking forward to her wardrobe as it is created. Donna

  5. Oh, my, she is as cute as can be, but definitely has a certain glint in her eye πŸ™‚ I look forward to seeing her exploits and watching her wardrobe grow.
I get so caught up in all the new dolls that I forget how much I love Bleuette! Thanks for sharing her!

    1. Thanks, Mary! I didn’t really plan to work on Bleuette things until I’d done some more things for the fashion dolls. But then I realized, the thing to get me out of my “funk” is to just sew without having to think and plan about patterns. I need to have some FUN! LOL!
