Just looking at the photos of Chiffonnette, showing off her endless pairs of stockings, is enough to make me want to pull out a needle immediately (I would kill for a scrap of the orange striped or the pink plaid cotton for my own doll). What makes Sylvia’s pattern so special is the separate, attached sole. Fiddly, yes. But so, so historically correct I wouldn’t dream of making mine any other way.
