Spring has arrived, and with it all the excitement of planning this year’s garden. Maddie has just received the most recent gardening journal and is eager to discuss some new flower hybrids with her grandmother. Enjoy these photos of her dashing off for tea in her new spring dress!
Ooh! Would it be too much to ask if – next time, anytime – we could see the back view of the delightful bonnet?? I know it would be inspiring … I can only manage the most clumsy and hurried versions of hats but are starting to lust for better results …
I didn’t make the bonnet – just covered it in lace – so I didn’t focus on it. But I’m about to attempt a drawn bonnet for Lavinia and if it turns out, I’ll post all sorts of views!

I love this pink dress and her bonnet too! Is the bonnet antique? You really have mastered the cartridge pleating on the skirt and I like the shirred bodice panel. I am making a similar bodice on a kit that I purchased and hope mine comes out half as lovely as yours. It is so enchanting to see a doll in a room full of furniture and accessories just her size too!
Thanks so much, Carol! The bonnet is a copy of an antique. I loved the idea of wrapping the straw in lace – something different. I’m going to try some new techniques the next time I do a shirred bodice. If I find a way to make it easier I’ll definitely post a tutorial.
I think your pink dress is just lovely! The bonnet is very fetching too! I have printed out the journal, and making it is next on my roster of things to do. I was thinking the Horticulture Journal would be a nice feature when Mary Louette walks in the woods with her vasculum.
