The best laid plans . . . do often go astray. Lavinia’s first dress was meant to be ready for fall (thus the short sleeves) but “life” got in the way.

So here we are.

Mornings tend to be chilly, so she may want to add a cozy shawl. On the other hand, she’s young, and excited to be entering her first season in society. Adreneline and dreams of dancing with eligible young men have added a permanent blush to her cheeks which might well warm her from the inside out for months to come!

  1. Wow, this doll is just beautiful, I love her early hairstyle and the gown is really lovely, I like how it has the appearance of a highish waist and very long skirt, so fashionable for her era. The design and fabric all contribute to the exquisite look. I am now inspired to make a dress for my china doll. thank you for showing this, is there a pattern to purchase to make this?

  2. I’m knocked over by the result. Lavinia must be over the moon with this gorgeous gown. Fabulous! You really are an inspiration!

    1. Thank you, Diane! But you know dolls – they go from “over the moon” to wanting more in a split second. I’ve already got my marching orders for the next one. LOL!
